#1 Space Mountain
Every coaster lovers dream. Number one on our Top 5 must do rides at Magic Kingdom is Space Mountain. Our coaster loving older child has to ride this one more than once, so this is one of the 3 Fastpasses we get on our day at Magic Kingdom. The queue is long and dark with ups and downs. The fast pass queue and the standby line run parallel to each other. The standby line has games to play along the way. The coaster has no really big drops and does not go upside down, but the darkness and the many twists and turns, accompanied by small hills make it a very thrilling coaster in the old school Disney way. Our younger, will not attempt any roller coasters especially one in the dark, so for our readers with children on the spectrum, I suggest that you pass this ride up. If there are more in your party that want to ride this ride do take advantage of the ride switch along with your Fastpasses.
#2 Pirates of the Caribbean
Dead men tell no tales… Pirates of the Caribbean is number 2 on our top 5 must do rides at Magic Kingdom. Pirates is my all time favorite since I was a little girl. I could ride this ride over and over. The crazy antics of the pirates accompanied by the that catchy tune makes it a must do for me. The ride is a dark ride with one drop to give it a little thrill. It is a ride that took our younger child a while to warm up to. She was very nervous and scared of the ride at first, with the drop and the cannon fire. Now it is one of her favorites. So I recommend showing your child some YouTube videos of the ride in order to prepare them for the experience. This ride can have shorter wait times in the mornings or late evenings so a Fastpass may not be necessary for this ride.
#3 Haunted Mansion
999 happy haunts greet you in this Disney classic with a mixture of old school special effects and new. This was a ride that both our girls were always fine with, but I know a lot of kids get really scared. The ride is scary in a Disney way (so really not that scary), but to a kid it might be. This ride is best experienced at night, but for little kids the experience may not be as extreme during the day. It’s loads of fun looking for the hidden Mickeys and singing along with the Grim Grinning Ghost.
#4 Peter Pan’s Flight
Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Wendy, Michel, and John, plus flying in Captain Hook’s ship what more do I need to say? This ride is another classic, are you catching a trend here? Peter Pan’s Flight is just magical and perfect for the whole family, which is why it is number 4 on our top 5 rides at Magic Kingdom. This ride usually has long wait times, so a Fastpass is recommended. Off to Neverland.
#5 It’s a Small World
It’s a Small World cannot be left out. It is the original Disney Classic and so lands at number 5 on our top 5 must do rides at Magic Kingdom. Even thought the original ride from the 1964 Worlds Fair is at Disneyland, the Walt Disney World version is not to be missed. A very family friendly and charming boat ride through the countries of the world is a sensory friendly delight. Kids of all ages love this ride. Lines are usually short for this ride so a Fastpass is not necessary. Small World is a great ride to sit back enjoy a cruise and get off your feet for a few minutes. Be sure to sing along.
So there you have it our top 5 must do rides that we can not miss on a day at Magic Kingdom. It was hard to narrow it down it to just five. Please leave us a comment telling me some of yours.
